Project "Fundão MEDEIA" wins an European Funds Award 2025
The Fundão MEDEIA project has been announced as the winner of the European Funds Awards, a distinction that recognises the most innovative, sustainable and transformative projects supported by the European Union in Portugal.
After being selected as one of the 25 national finalists, the project developed by the Municipality of Fundão, in partnership with several local entities, stood out for its impact on the integration of migrants, applicants and beneficiaries of international protection, as well as the Roma community.
Co-funded by PO ISE, Fundão MEDEIA is based on the Municipal Plan for the Integration of Migrants - MIXin and created a network of local mediators dedicated to strengthening social cohesion. The project works across four key areas — education, training and employment, health and inclusive citizenship — promoting initiatives such as Escola-te!, Intercultural Education, Medeia Trabalho, Capacita-te and Escola MEDEIA. These actions have contributed to facilitating social and professional integration, strengthening intercultural dialogue and developing responses tailored to community needs.
Receiving this award represents national recognition of the work carried out by Fundão in building a more inclusive and cohesive society.
