World Refugee Day 2025

June 20, 2025 was World Refugee Day. As Fundão has a large community of refugees and asylum seekers, the Fundão Migration Center, in collaboration with AMURT, organized a celebration that promoted dialogue on this topic using testimonies from regional projects and refugees welcomed and integrated into the Fundão community. This event also included the relaunch of the Guide for the Reception and Integration of Refugees.

The event took place at the Eugénio de Andrade Municipal Library and included several moments:

• The presentation of a video made in conjunction with the UNHCR in which an Afghan citizen welcomed in Fundão gives her testimony about the process of reception, integration and autonomization;

• The presentation and relaunch of the Guide for the Reception and Integration of Refugees in a bilingual format;

• Presentation of regional projects working in the field of refugee integration (Matriz 9G and Welcome Sports Club);

• Musical performance by an Afghan refugee welcomed and residing in the Municipality of Fundão.

This event is part of the MIXin3 Action Plan, co-financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), which aims to promote better levels of integration of the migrant and refugee communities residing in the Municipality of Fundão.
